In order to grow a player needs to take advantage of the 4×4 expansions that are available. In the city pictured above there are a number of blacksmiths, and a ready space that you can’t see in the image. This space could contain your BA blacksmiths for completing production quests or be empty in readiness for quests that require you to build something. If your city is thriving there’s no reason why you can’t have what I’ll call “event space” – space that’s intended for event use. Think of it this way – if you were a landowner in real life each empty lot is a loss of income, each old house would earn less rent than new, every out-of-date factory you own will produce less than new, and a company that builds new cars is worth more than a company that only produces 50 year old models. This is why I recommend that players use only current age residential, production and goods buildings and roads, and that they use mostly or all optimum buildings in their city (when event and premium buildings aren’t an option). Yet you want to be wise in the buildings you use to occupy those squares or you won’t get near the potential value those squares may have. So any square not occupied has zero value for a player – you want to use up all the spaces you can to have a city that produces more. You can’t value it with forge points, medals or coins, supplies or goods yet that space can help to produce any of those depending on which building is occupying it. Many players may not be aware that each square has a value which potentially increases every time you advance to the next age. When we speak of space in this game we’re talking about an individual square or a group of squares.
